latviaaaaThe Republic of Latvia was founded in 1918. However because of World War II which erupted in that year, the country’s independence was interrupted. During the year 1940, Soviet Union took control over Latvian government. In year 1941, Nazi Germany invaded and occupied the country and later in 1944, it was again re-occupied by the Soviets for the next 50 years. Bachelor’s and master’s programs are available for both Pharmacy and Nursing. A paid internship is an important aspect for the master’s program. International applicants need to complete their Senior Secondary from a recognized school. Please note that all applicants are required to have studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. For the master’s program, you should have completed the bachelor’s program successfully.

Language requirements

You will be required to submit the IELTS or the TOEFEL score. A minimum score of 6 is required in IELTS. For TOEFL, the aspirants should have  scored a minimum of 80. It is equally sufficient if the student has acquired a GRADE B in Cambridge First Certificate in English. Though Latvian is the native language professional courses are offered in Russian and English. A Latvian language test is mandatory for the overseas students.

Required documents

Some documents will be required for obtaining a student visa which is a must for international students. To obtain a Latvian student visa, the international student should submit a letter of admission from the Latvian university. Note that the confirmation of the fee payment is essential. The visa office seeks the invitation letter from the Latvian college while issuing the student visa. Two photocopies of the 10th and 12th mark sheet and certificate are required. For the master’s program, the bachelor level of certificate needs to be attested by the ministry of External Affairs. The work experience letter is required at the time of the interview which is conducted by the visa authorities. The visa application form needs to be completed with all the details. Four passport size photographs need to be furnished. During the stay in Latvia, it is mandatory to be insured against medical emergencies.

Tuition Costs

Tuition fees in Latvia are lower than that in the other European nations. The tuition fee is 3000 USD per year for international students who pursue science and slightly higher for medical programs.
