Sweden is one of the largest of the Scandinavian countries. It is generally considered a leader in innovation, ranking consistently in the top 5 countries with most patent requests per capita. Whether you intend to do a short visit to study in Sweden as an exchange student, studying a master’s program or study a full degree, you will benefit immensely from the Swedish welcoming and informal atmosphere, with moderate tuition fees as well as the large array of progressive courses you will be allowed to choose from. In fact, Sweden is one of Europe’s most popular study destinations. In 2009, nearly 40000 international students chose to study in Sweden. That’s almost 10% of the student population body for that year.
If you have successfully completed secondary school studies in one and possess a valid secondary school leaving certificate and qualify for higher education studies in your home country, you will also qualify for tertiary education program in Sweden. However, you will be asked to prove your level of English and/or Swedish. In some cases, you might need to take additional qualifying exams.
If you are applying for a master’s program at university in Sweden, you are required to be in possession of a relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma.
For both Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
Note that If you are applying for programs in English, you will be required to submit your application based on the deadlines shown below:
- Mid January : This is the deadline for programs beginning in the fall semester. International students are kindly advised to apply in this January intake.
- Mid August : for studies beginning in the spring semester.
- Mid October : for studies beginning in the spring semester.Note that non-EU students are not advised to apply in this October intake because they will find it difficult to receive their residence permit on time.
How to apply
If you are an undergraduate student (first cycle student) seeking for a study place at university in Sweden, you will have to submit your application through UniversityAdmissions.se as explained below:
01 Register at UniversityAdmissions.se and fill in the online application forms. You can list several study programs you are interested in, in order of priority.
02 Once you are registered at UniversityAdmissions.se and the application forms are filled out, send them in electronically through the available option at your UniversityAdmissions.se account. You will also need to send attested copies of other requested documents, like your school leaving certificate or university certificates
