Free Tuition Countries in Europe for International Students

Our world has become a global village due to sophisticated  advancements. They’ve been advancements in technology, vast communication networks, and innovation in transportation. These  have collectively changed the globe where every sphere of life is affected. Today, people are connected more easily and are facilitated by advances of the modern world, the gap between the global north and south is increasing with every progress. The internal and civil unrest as well as international conflicts have dragged back the economies of many countries. That said, affording free tuition and quality education has become an uphill task for  students in developing countries due to prevailing poor economic conditions. This article list countries where education is still free for international students.

Norway

Good news for international students: Norway is currently tuition free for all  students regardless of where they are from. There are many free universities in Norway such as; The University of Oslo, University of Stavanger, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), University of Bergen, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), University of Tromso (UiT), Norwegian Business School, University of Agder (UiA). There are some private schools that are also offering free education .

Germany

Germany  is a beautiful  European country that came into limelight when it removed the tuition fee from its universities for  international students too. It is also a popular tourist destination. Germany currently has some of the best universities in Europe with the good technical and research facilities available. Some of the top German universities are Freie Universitat Berlin, Technische Universitat Berlin, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Humboldt- Universitat zu Berlin and Technical University, Munich.

Sweden

Though there is currently no free university in Sweden but it offers quite rewarding scholarship programs for international students where a large number of universities offer tuition free education via various scholarships. In addition, there is no tuition fee for the international students applying for a PhD degree program in Sweden. Top tuition free universities in Sweden are Halmstad University, Stockholm University, Lund University, Uppsala University, Jonkoping University and Stockholm School of Economics.

Finland

Finland is also one of the European countries which are providing tuition free education to all including the international students. The names of the tuition free Finnish educational institutions are National Defence University, Hanken School of Economics, Aalto University, Lappeenranta University of Technology, University of Helsinki, University of Oulu, University of Lapland, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyvaskyla, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, University Of Vaasa, Tampere University of Technology, Centria University of Applied Sciences and many more. Please note that starting 2017, international students are no longer allowed to study on free tuition. However, if you are from the EU/EEA, you are able to study on free tuition.

Austria

Austria does not charge any fee from the EU students and the students from the developing or underdeveloped countries. Tuition fee for most of the African countries’ students is also free. University of Graz, University of Vienna and Leopold-Franzens-Universitat Innsbruck are few of the top Austrian universities for the international students.
