Of course this varies per country though, and also depends to a great extent if you are from European Economic Area or not. The average tuition fee for an international Master’s student in Europe is put at € 5.100 for applicants from the EEA, and € 10.170 for applicants from outside Europe. France is increasingly becoming a popular studyabroad destination for international students. The tuition fees are very affordable; note that public universities charge both EU and non EU students, usually between 200 EUR and 650 EUR/year depending on the level of study. For instance, average tuition fees for medicine can go upto 452 EUR/year, while engineering students will pay 620 EUR/year. Private universities on the other hand, charge annual tuition fees between 1500-6000 EUR or even higher.
Germany is another great country with a list of top universities. Most universities are low tuition or don’t charge fees at all.Students will need to pay administrative fees between 100 and 200 EUR/semester, that’ll cover public accomodation ticket and other student services. However, for a non-consecutive” Masters or PhD degree(if your prior studies are not in the same field as the one you apply to in a German university),you’ll be charged a tuition fee that can lead up to 10,000 EUR/per semester or even more. Private companies can charge upto 30,000 EUR/year for postgraduate programs.
In Italy, the tuition fees depend on the university and the income of the student’s family. The same applies to EEA/EU and Swiss students. In public institutions, annual tuition fees range from 850 EUR to 1000 EUR/year, depending on the university chosen. Some of the renowned universities could charge fees higher than 1000 EUR. Private universities can charge tuition fees upto 16,000 EUR/year.That said, generally there are no low tuition fees in Italy.
In the Netherlands, study fees for EU students at any degree level can go upto 2,000 EUR/yr.The average tuition fee for non EU students studying a bachelor’s program is between 6,000 to 12,000 EUR/year, while a masters program ranges between 8,000 and 20,000 EUR/year. Note that EU/EEA /Switzerland students are eligible to apply for a study loan/scholarship, but under certain conditions.
University education is tuition free for students of all nationalities, although in select state universities, students may be required to pay a small fee of 32-36 EUR approximately). Students may also be granted a student card that allows them exclusive right to health care and free transport, plus reductions for cultural activities. In private universities, there are tuition fees to be paid depending on the program chosen ranging between 8,300 and 10,000 EUR per year.
In Spain, each regional university sets its own tuition fees for bachelor’s courses. In public institutions, a bachelor’s degree cost between 680 and 1,400 EUR/year and for a master’s or PhD, students would pay between ,1,350 and ,1,500 EUR/year. In private universities, a bachelor’s degree could cost between 5,000 EUR and 12,000 EUR per year.Note that masters programs and PhD’s study fees are calculated per credit : each credit can cost between 22 and 36 EUR.That said, a typical master’s program of 60 ECTS per academic year could cost between 1,320 EUR and 2,164 EUR/year.These fees apply to all international students.
In Sweden, when applying as a non EU and non EEA/switzerland citizen you will be required to pay an application fee of around 100 EUR. Note that each university sets its own tuition fee and can range between 9,000 and 15,800 EUR/year. These fees are only appliable to bachelors and masters programs. While PhD’s are tuition free. Also, the parliament of Sweden has allocated funds for two scholarship programs for international students. One is directed only to scholars from 12 developing countries, while the second one has geographical limitations.
For EU/EEA members, university programs in public swiss universities range 550 EUR per semester for bachelors and masters programs. And 200 EUR/year for phD programs. In most cases, the same fees apply for international students. Only five universities require international students to pay higher. Scholarships are available for EU and Eastern European students.
In Austrian universities, students from EU member countries are not charged tuition fees. Infact, the schools in Austria operate low tuition, International students can pay much as 600-1500€ per year. While every student irrespective of national background would pay a compulsory semester fee of EUR 16.89 for membership into the Austrian Student Union.
If you are an applicant from the EU, university education in Denmark is totally free for students from the European member countries. However, international students from other continents would be required to pay tuition fees of roughly EUR 6,000 to EUR 16,000 Euro per academic year. Note that scholarship programs are available both for both European and non-European students.
Until recently, Finnish Universities were not charging tuition fees for Bachelor’s and Doctoral programs. However that changed in 2017. Regardless the fees charged are stil considerably low. Master’s degree programs are generally free for students from European countries but International students outside of the Europe might in most cases study for free. The Tuition fees for non-EU students are within the range of EUR 2,500-12,000 per year.
