The MasterCard Foundation has partnered with Michigan State University to provide full tuition assistance to undergraduate and graduate students from Sub-Saharan African countries. The university will be granted about $45 million in funding from the MasterCard foundation to support about 185 scholars throughout the nine-year support program, which will cater for 100 four-year undergraduates and 85 master’s degree students. It is worthy to note that MSU will host the most scholars among the six U.S. MasterCard partner institutions.
The scholarships target Students who have shown demonstrated academic talent, and are economically disadvantaged as well as have a personal commitment to give back to their countries on returning to Africa.
Through financial, academic, social and post-graduation support, The Scholars Program at Michigan would ensure young people are well equipped with the skills and competencies required to stimulate economic growth and social development in their respective countries.
